What do window cleaners charge?

  • Houses, inside and conservatories: MyJobQuote's guide (updated 25 August 2026) gives a regular clean as £20 to £35 for a terraced house (8 to 10 windows), £20 to £40 for a semi (10 to 14) and £35 to £60 for a detached house (15 to 20 or more). It adds £10 to £15 for the inside of the main windows, £20 to £25 for inside and out of every window and glass door, and £25 to £30 for a conservatory with its glass roof. Its figures come from quotes window cleaners gave homeowners on its site.
  • One-off cleans: MyJobQuote says a first-time or deep clean costs 50% to 100% more than a regular clean. MyBuilder's guide (updated 21 August 2026) gives £30 to £60 for a one-off and £15 to £30 for a regular clean.
  • Every 4 weeks: the guides give one price for a regular clean, and the calculator uses it for 4-weekly.
  • Every 6 or 8 weeks: the calculator adds what window cleaners on Window Cleaning Forums add. Across five of them, 8-weekly comes to 29% to 43% more a clean. The two that give a 6-weekly price, or a rule for it, come to 14% to 17% more. In a 2019 thread, one charges £12 for 4 weeks and "6 weeks £14 8 weeks £16", one says "I add 1pound a week" to a £14 price, and one would "just add a fiver" to £15. One prices a house at £25 every 4 weeks or £35 every 8 (2018), and one offered a £21 customer "8 weekly at £30.00" (2024).
  • Where the sources disagree: Bark's 2025 guide puts a standard home at £10 a visit in the North East, £12 in the Midlands, £15 in the North West, £18 in the South West and £20 in London. In a 2024 forum thread one window cleaner says of a 3-bed semi: "Currently I'm between £10 and £11", and others there put a 2-bed semi at £12 to £15. Checkatrade's table (last updated January 2025) starts at £30 for a terraced house or a bungalow, £35 for a semi and £40 for a detached house. So the guides built from homeowners' quotes come out higher than what many window cleaners say they charge on their rounds.

What moves the price

  • The first clean. It can take much longer, so many window cleaners charge more for it. One adds "between £10 and 50%" (Window Cleaning Forums, 2022).
  • Frames and sills. Some window cleaners include them as standard and others charge extra for a full clean (MyJobQuote). Say what your price includes.
  • Height and access. High windows and awkward access cost more (Checkatrade).
  • Where you work. Prices are higher in London and the South East (MyJobQuote). Bark's averages double between the North East and London.
  • Big or unusual jobs. Price them by the time they take. Bark puts window cleaners at £15 to £30 an hour, and Checkatrade at £25 to £40.
